Matthew McConaughey finds the creator of True Detective for a new Netflix series

A mystery series that has excited the world of streaming, generating an auction war won by Netflix.

It will be without Woody Harrelson this time!

Matthew McConaughey returns to the small screen in the new series imagined by Nic Pizzolatto and it will not be on HBO, as at the time of True Detective, but on Netflix!

The platform won an auction war to offer the new project of the creator of True Detective, which brings together the Texan actor with his former rebel generation partner (1993), Cole Hauser (Yellowstone Star). The two actors will embody brothers this time. Generation Rebelle is a cult film by Richard Linklater which had launched their careers both.

What will it speak of?

Developed by Skydance Sports, this series still without official title already circulates under the nickname of The Brothers Project. Few elements have filtered on the plot or the frame, but there should be connection with the sports universe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon (for Video Prime) and Apple (for Apple TV+) were also interested, but Netflix finally won the deal.

Note that HBO, in cold with Pizzolatto since the criticisms issued by the author on the management of season 4 of True Detective, did not participate in the auctions.

This project is added to another collaboration announced last June Enter McConaughey and PizzoLto: they will still work together on an adaptation of Mike Hammer, the cult detective by Mickey Spillane, in film. The feature will also be produced by Skydance. We do not yet know if the Netflix series is linked.

In the meantime, Matthew McConaughey will be back in the cinema in the fall with The Lost Bus, Drama of Paul Greengrass. Released October 3 on Apple TV.
