Michael’s sequel will talk about the accusations… but from his point of view

After the billion dollars raised by the first film, the sequel to the biopic devoted to Michael Jackson will address the accusations of sexual abuse which marked the end of his career. But Jaafar Jackson promises that the story will give more space to the singer’s point of view.

The continuation of Michael begins to become clearer. As the second part of the biopic devoted to Michael Jackson approaches its entry into production, Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the singer who plays him on screen, confirms that the film will address the accusations of sexual abuse which targeted the star in the 1990s.

But above all he wants this part of the story to allow Michael Jackson’s voice to be heard. Asked by GQ Middle EastJaafar explains that he doesn’t really have a say in the writing of the script, but hopes that the film will provide a better understanding of his uncle’s point of view. He explains this about the script:

“It’s the story of someone from the outside. It’s someone else’s idea, a screenwriter’s idea… And it’s mainly driven by a goal… That’s really what was problematic for us as a family (in the first version): the fact that we don’t hear Michael’s voice enough…“

The first film was a huge success at the box office, exceeding $1 billion in worldwide revenue. But the film only told the first half of the singer’s career, ending in 1987, when the album was released Bad. He therefore stopped before the first accusations against Michael Jackson, which appeared in 1993.

For Jaafar Jackson, this two-film structure allows us to go much further in the portrait of the man behind the icon.

“This first film focuses on Michael and his origins. We discover who he was before achieving success and becoming the icon that everyone knows; we first understand the human being that he was, because that is ultimately what he remained from the 90s until his death. He never lost this purity, nor this constant desire to see the good side of people. Despite all the trials he went through, the way he was treated and what was said about him, he always continued to treat others with kindness. He never stopped believing in the good in everyone and looking for it… even if he was broken, his heart remained intact… I hope that this will shine through in the second film.“

We thus understand that the scenario of this second part will address the accusations which profoundly marked the image of Michael Jackson through the prism of the star. Jaafar Jackson clearly wants the film to tell this period from his character’s point of view, and in particular what he describes as his desire to maintain his innocence and his trust in others.
