Nathacha Krief: “I like the unique way in which Jérôme Bonnell talks about love”
Guest of our show Entree des artistes, the actress looks back on her magnificent composition in the series Un jour on faire l’amour which earned her an award at the La Rochelle festival
We discovered Natacha Krief, at the cinema in 2018 in My daughter by Naidra Ayadi where she played one of Roschdy Zem’s two children. And, in his career rich in several supporting roles (La nuit se drags, Rabia…), One day, we will make love, the series by Jérôme Bonnell, will remain like a marker. She plays Aurore, a thirty-year-old just left by her boyfriend who, one evening, in a bar, meets Noé. She thinks of her lost love, he of a possible love, that of a woman he met earlier. And yet during a night as joyful as it is drunk, these two will get closer and begin a relationship like no other.
Natacha Krief spoke about her arrival in this series, during the program Entree des artistes
“Jérôme doesn’t have a casting director. He goes to the theater, sees films and contacts actors directly. For me, it was my role as a young French girl leaving to join ISIS in Rabia, yet the polar opposite of Aurore, that made him want to meet me. For the tests, he sent me a scene where Aurore says everything she thinks, takes up space, drank too much… It intrigued me and above all made me really want it. Then, I discovered the script and I quickly understood that we were far from the cliché of a loud-mouthed girl. I immediately liked that she was not spontaneously friendly. Jérôme invites us to take Aurore as she is. A young woman who seems free but is not because she has built her own prison which prevents her from living. And it arrives at a time when this system no longer works”
Over the course of its three episodes, One Day, We Will Make Love tells the story of a woman who will finally manage to talk about an attack she suffered in her childhood.
“The series comes out at a time when we are debating violence against children in the National Assembly. I would like there to be a resonance. Because this series allows us to better understand this difficulty in putting words to an aggression experienced. And I find it essential that this happens through a character who is neither weak nor timid, but who has kept silent for a long time about what she has experienced. It’s also very beautiful what this series tells about love. We are used to seeing romantic comedies where love falls on the characters, unhinges them and makes them lose their footing. Whereas there, Aurore and Noé are already unhinged at the start. And don’t have the fantasy of being saved by someone. »
This remarkably written series, crossed by moments of irresistible comedy (great number from the always brilliant Laurent Stocker as an uncomfortable father) is dominated by the inspired and nervous composition of Natacha Krief. This did not steal her prize for best female hopeful awarded during the last La Rochelle festival. And we can’t wait to see her soon on Prime Video in another series, Glam squad, co-written by Rebecca Zlotowslki and Agathe Riedinger (Rough Diamond) about the world of fashion.
One day we will make love. Series created by Jérôme Bonnell. With Natacha Krief, Edouard Sulpice, Laurent Stocker… 3 episodes. Available on Arte.tv
