Nicolas Bedos accused of sexual assault
The actor-director was taken into police custody on Wednesday June 21 following an alleged assault in a nightclub.
As Agence France Presse reports, Nicolas Bedos was taken into custody on Wednesday June 21 after a 25-year-old woman filed a complaint against the actor-director for “sexual touching in night club.”
The facts would have taken place on the night of June 1 to 2, in a Parisian nightclub. The alleged victim, who preferred to remain anonymous, allegedly told the police that Nicolas Bedos would have “held out his hand to her panties”, around 1am. The young woman assures that there was no penetration, but just “a friction”. She then claims to have very quickly rejected the actor. She says she thought long and hard before filing a complaint, because she does not “did not feel capable of it psychologically” at the beginning.
If the lawyers and relatives of Nicolas Bedos did not wish to react to the requests of several media, including RTL, AFP nevertheless reveals that the actor “does not (question) the word of the complainant”, and that if this gesture did indeed exist, it is “accidental”, according to a third party handling the case. The public prosecutor’s office of the city of Paris published a press release on Thursday: “After extension of police custody for the needs of the investigation, (Nicolas Bedos) was given a summons on June 22 by a judicial police officer to be tried at the beginning of 2024 for sexual assault in a state of manifest drunkenness.“According to RTL, Nicolas Bedos now risks up to 5 years in prison and a fine of nearly 75,000 euros if found guilty.
This accusation comes as Nicolas Bedos is finishing his first series for Prime Video, Alphonsein which he tells a “original story tackling the relationship between men and women in a way that should find some resonance in today’s world”, as he himself revealed in an Instagram post. In the casting, we can notably find Jean Dujardin and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Nicolas Bedos was also present at the Cannes Film Festival last year for the out-of-competition screening of his thriller Masqueradewith Pierre Niney, Marine Vacth, François Cluzet and Isabelle Adjani.
