Oscars 2026: One battle after another triumph against Sinners (complete list)

But Leonardo DiCaprio had to bow down to Michael B. Jordan.

The two big favorites of the 98th Academy Awards fought a fierce battle last night in Los Angeles. And it is One battle after another which emerged victorious, with six awards including the Oscar for best film and best director for Paul Thomas Anderson.

Never rewarded by the Academy during his career, PTA even offered himself a third personal statuette with the best adapted screenplay. Sean Penn (absent) received the Oscar for best supporting role. One battle after another also won the new Oscar for best casting, inaugurated this year.

Sinners is not to be outdone with four awards, including the Oscar for best actor for Michael B. Jordan (for his first nomination!) and best original screenplay for Ryan Coogler. Autumn Durald Arkapaw also made history by becoming the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

As expected, Jessie Buckley won the Oscar for best actress and saves the honor ofHamnet. Amy Madigan was crowned for her incredible supporting role in Faintedcelebrated in Conan O’Brien’s intro sketch (video at the end of the article), 40 years after his nomination for Autumn sun.

Timothée Chalamet and Marty Supreme on the other hand make a zero point, while Frankenstein wins three technical prizes and that the animated film phenomenon KPop Demon Hunters sign a duplicate.

Finally, France once again missed out on the Oscar for best international film, A simple accident losing to Sentimental valuebut Joachim Trier did not fail to thank MK2 for its financing. The only French Oscar goes to short fiction Two people exchanging salivatied with The Singers.

Conan O’Brien got the evening off to a good start by transforming into Aunt Gladys to go through the main Oscar-nominated films pursued by the children ofFainted. Before throwing some well-felt barbs at Timothée Chalamet (“the evening is under high security because of the opera and ballet community“) or Ted Sarandos (“This is his first time in a movie theater.“).

The ceremony was punctuated by some nice sketches: Anna Wintour tormented Anne Hathaway to tease the upcoming release of Devil wears Prada 2Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans gave a taste of their reunion in Avengers: Doomsday and the casting of My best friends (Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy and Ellie Kemper) came together to celebrate the film’s 15th anniversary.

We will also remember the In Memoriam XXL concocted by the producers of the ceremony to respond to the massacre that Hollywood has experienced over the last 12 months. Plus three special tributes to Rob Reiner and his wife (by Billy Crystal), Diane Keaton (by Rachel McAdams) and Robert Redford (by Barbra Streisand).

This year again, the Oscars delivered a well-calibrated, timed and smooth show, far from the madness of the last Caesars. No one mentioned Trump by name, nor Ukraine, Palestine or current events in the Middle East. Politics arose at brief moments, notably during the Oscars for documentaries, awarded to short films All the empty rooms (on children who died in school shootings) and Mister Nobody against Putin. But the spirit of protest was discreet and not very vocal, like the pacifist badge worn by Javier Bardem, who came to present the Oscar for best foreign film.
