Ryan Gosling confirms he’s in talks to play Ghost Rider in the MCU
Will the Last Chance Project star replace Nicolas Cage?
An undead biker superhero, flames and demonic forces to fight…
Adapted from the eponymous comics created by Roy Thomas, the film series Ghost Rider could finally be entitled to a third opus. It remains to find a main actor… Is the Ryan Gosling track still relevant?
“Discussions are underway”the actor told Josh Horowitz, host of the podcast Happy Sad Confusedbefore adding: “It’s a complicated situation.” Gosling reportedly met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, reports Entertainment Weekly.
In 2022, the actor, awarded the Golden Globe for best actor for his role in La La Landhad expressed his wish to interpret this legendary character from the Marvel universe.
At the time, Feige reacted positively: “I would love to find a place for him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)”.
For the record, the actress and partner of Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, played opposite Nicolas Cage in 2007, in the first film. The actor played the famous motorcycle stuntman, Johnny Blaze, who sells his soul to the devil before transforming into Ghost Rider…
The saga initially written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson was back for a second part, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, in 2011. But this time it’s the directors of the film series Hypertension (Jason Statham, Amy Smart) who were in charge.
It wouldn’t be the first time that we found Ryan Gosling at the front of a motorcycle. We remember the very beautiful feature film by Derek Cianfrance, The Place Beyond the Pines, where he played a biker, father of a family, bad boy and tattooed… alongside Eva Mendes. And he also played a stuntman in the movie The Fall Guy.
The actor is also delighted that the actress took part in the adventure Ghost Rider : “I’m just happy that one of us was able to do it.”
In the meantime, nothing is confirmed and we don’t yet know if Ryan Gosling will ride the famous Johnny Blaze’s motorcycle for this third opus…
