Ryan Murphy ready to resurrect Glee? “Maybe it’s time to come back.”

More than ten years after the end of the cult musical series, its creator raises the possibility of a new version, in today’s world.

What if Glee made a comeback? What could musical comedy look like in 2026?

More than fifteen years after the launch of the series on Fox, its creator Ryan Murphy has suggested that he is seriously considering a new incarnation of his immense success.

Present at the New York premiere of his new miniseries The Shards, Murphy told People that the continued popularity of Glee gave him ideas because he “loved all these characters. I had a wonderful time doing this show.” The screenwriter and producer notes above all that the musical is enjoying a second lease of life among the youngest:

“What’s interesting is that the series has come back to the forefront. A lot of young people watch it today. I said to myself: Maybe we should come back to it!”

Without confirming the development of a new project, Murphy happily imagines a modernized version:

“My nostalgia and love of this show makes me think that maybe people would like to experience a new incarnation in some form. Yes, I love this show and everything it has become, and what it has meant to so many people… So I’m thinking about that.”

Broadcast between 2009 and 2015, Glee lasted six seasons and established itself as one of the most notable series of its time. She has notably won six Emmy Awards and four Golden Globes, including two consecutive trophies for best comedy series in 2010 and 2011.

It now remains to be seen whether this “new incarnation” could take the form of a reboot, a sequel or a completely different project. Ryan Murphy is maintaining the mystery for the moment.
