Fantasy film event of 2027, The Kingdom of Orïsha unveils its spectacular trailer
Thuso Mbedu, Idris Elba, Viola Davis and Cynthia Erivo lead the cast of this blockbuster adapted from Tomi Adeyemi’s best-seller.
It will be one of the big blockbusters at the start of 2027.
Paramount Pictures unveils the first images of the highly anticipated The Kingdom of Orïsha (Children of Blood and Bone in VO), adaptation of the phenomenon novel by Tomi Adeyemi (Of blood and rage in French). Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, this fantasy fresco takes us to the world of Orïsha, where magic has been brutally eradicated by a tyrannical king.
The trailer immediately immerses us in this once enchanted universe, now subject to a ruthless power. After being separated from her mother during a violent attack, young Zélie learns to fight without her powers. But as the king’s son begins to question his father’s cruelty, a rebellion is organized to restore magic to an entire people. The images conclude with an impressive demonstration of powers, Zélie giving life to a gigantic plant colossus to repel her enemies.
The official synopsis details: “The Kingdom of Orïsha immerses us in the epic and fantastical world of Orïsha, where a young woman embarks on a quest to return to her people the magic that was violently taken from them. With her brother, she joins forces with the king’s daughter and son to fight against his brutal reign.“
Led by Thuso Mbedu, the film brings together a particularly prestigious cast with Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba and Viola Davis.
Billed as one of Paramount’s most ambitious fantasy productions, The Kingdom of Orïsha will be released in French theaters, including IMAX, on January 13, 2027.
