Sam Mendes’ Beatles recreate a cult scene from Four Boys in the Wind

Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn and Harris Dickinson were spotted filming a sequence directly inspired by the opening of the cult 1964 film.

Last month, four trendy boys were spotted recreating the album cover Abbey Road…

And these Beatles continue to run to the four corners of England.

Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn and Harris Dickinson were photographed filming The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Eventthe four-film project directed by Sam Mendes. And the images revealed by TMZ allow us to recognize a particularly famous scene: the opening of Four boys in the wind (A Hard Day’s Night), the film released in 1964.

Like John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in Richard Lester’s film, the three actors were filmed fleeing a crowd of excited fans. A dozen extras, dressed in 60s style, took part in the sequence. The photos show Keoghan, Quinn and Dickinson running, dancing and smiling as they try to escape their admirers.

A few days earlier, the production had also taken over Liverpool Town Hall, the town hall of the city in the north of England, to recreate the triumphant return of the Beatles to their hometown in July 1964. Here again, the filming intends to reproduce a real moment of Beatlemania, when the group was welcomed by a huge crowd after the premiere of Four boys in the wind.

The roles of the Fab Four are now well established: Paul Mescal plays Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson plays John Lennon, Joseph Quinn is George Harrison and Barry Keoghan plays Ringo Starr. Each will be at the center of one of the four films imagined by Sam Mendes, which will tell the story of the group from the point of view of each of its members.

The cast also includes Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd and Harry Lloyd as George Martin, among others.

Sony Pictures plans to release the four films in theaters in April 2028. An experience designed by Mendes as a single great story told through four different perspectives, with scenes that may sometimes cross over from one film to another.
