Steve McQueen returns with Blitz, a WWII film: first photos
Apple announces a release next November.
Won the 2014 Oscar for Best Film for Twelve Years a Slave, Steve McQueen is preparing for its return. Four years after the mini-series Small Axethe British filmmaker will release his 6th feature film at the end of the year, in streaming, via Apple TV+. The platform today reveals the first images of BlitzIt will be a new historical epic, during the bombings of London in the heart of the Second World War.
“George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy and his mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) rush to flee London to find refuge in the countryside… But George rebels and, determined to join his mother and grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an extremely dangerous adventure while Rita, mad with worry, goes in search of her son.”
Written and directed by Steve McQueen, Blitz also stars Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Paul Weller, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman and Sally Messham.
Blitz will be released on November 22 on Apple TV+.
