The Batman II: filming on the sequel has finally started
Matt Reeves just kicked off the Gotham sequel.
This time it’s gone. Four years after the release of the first The Batman – huge success with more than $772 million at the worldwide box office – Matt Reeves officially relaunches his gothic saga of Gotham. The director announced on social networks that the filming of The Batman Part II had started, by sharing a first photo from the set. The image reveals almost nothing of the plot, but it does confirm that production is finally moving forward after a long wait.
Released in 2022, The Batman starred Robert Pattinson in a dark and detective version of Bruce Wayne. The film then gave birth to a shared universe, continued in 2024 with the series The Penguinin which Colin Farrell reprized his role as Oswald Cobblepot.

The official details of the scenario remain secret, but several rumors are already circulating around the casting and the antagonists.
For a time, Sebastian Stan was announced as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. According to journalist Jeff Sneider, he would ultimately play Victor Zsasz, while Brian Tyree Henry would play Harvey Dent. We also know that Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance will join the cast, but their roles have not yet been revealed.
Sneider also claims that the film will feature the Court of Owlsa secret society that has been manipulating Gotham for centuries in DC comics. This organization, made up of the most powerful families in the city, acts in the shadows thanks to its formidable assassins, the Talons. The Court of Owls has become one of the most popular concepts in modern Batman comics, particularly in the arcs Night of the Owls, Batman: Eternal or even Dark Nights: Metal.
Warner Bros. and DC Studios have set the release of The Batman Part II for September 29, 2027 in theaters in France.
