The complete winners of the 2023 Les Arcs festival
Chaired by Asghar Farhadi, the 2023 jury of the Les Arcs European Film Festival notably rewarded a Lithuanian film about a love story like no other and the new film from the director of Until the Guard.
Elena and Dovydas fall in love: she is a dancer, he is a sign language interpreter. The thing is, he’s asexual: they’re going to have to “learning to build their own type of intimacy”, as the summary of Slow -the second feature film by Lithuanian director Marija Kavtaradze, love story sensitive and sensual, has just been awarded the Crystal Arrow, the grand feature film prize of the Les Arcs European Film Festival. The jury, chaired by filmmaker Asghar Farhadi (A separation) and which notably included the actors Rebecca Marder and Vincent Lacoste, also rewarded The successor by Xavier Legrand (also winner of the public prize) of the prize for best photography, and The Teachers’ Room by İlker Çatak for the Grand Jury Prize and Best Original Music.
On the short film side, the jury chaired by filmmaker Mona Achache (Little Girl Blue) awarded a special mention to /Conceived by Anna Apter and presented her prize to 27 by Flóra Anna Buda, an animated trip that has already won the Palme d’Or for short films at Cannes this year.
Bringing together more than 700 professionals from the four corners of Europe around the Industry Village and screening more than 100 films, the Festival des Arcs 2023 also invited actress Bérénice Bejo and double Palme d’Or filmmaker Ruben Östlund for two masterclass.
