First had met the creator of Belleville tripletswho had confided in this project, still in preparation at the time:

“The Marcel Child goes back to time to meet the adult pagnol, which has become a renowned filmmaker and one of the major literary figures of the 20th century, he was. Marcel Pagnol’s films are out of time and out of borders, a bit like the films of Charlie Chaplin. Originally, he hated cinema! He couldn’t bear the idea of the mute. He therefore became a great playwright, and it was when he writes Marius that he discovers speaking cinema. “

“Without Pagnol, there would not have been Audiard and the new wave, he told us too. He brought something very special to the world of cinema. I think that Marseille trilogy has a real relationship with authenticity. The Provencal characteristics of his work represent a color. But behind, the form is universal! “
