Could Jennifer Aniston play a sitcom again, 30 years after Friends?

The Friends “were already crying Matthew Perry for a long time”

Jennifer Aniston says that the Central Perk band did everything to help her get out of his addictions. Without success.

The Friends band had started to “cry” Matthew Perry long before his disappearance.

The actor died in October 2023 at the age of 54. The unforgettable interpreter of Chandler Bing died of the “acute effects” of ketamine, he who had always shown himself to be frank on his fight against addictions, started while Friends propelled his stars to the rank of world phenomena.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jennifer Aniston says that all of her cast friends have tried to help him over the years. But quickly, they saw their friend disappear:

“We did everything we could, when we could,” said Aniston, referring to the years of support that his partners and she tried to bring him, during and after the series.

“But we almost had the impression that Matthew had already been lost for a long time, because his fight against this disease was extremely difficult.”

Which makes the star say today that Matthew Perry is perhaps better where he is:

“As hard as it is for us and for fans, part of me thinks that it is better as well. I am relieved that he no longer suffers.”

In the summer of 2025, the case around the death of Matthew Perry experienced a major judicial turning point. Dr. Salvador Plasencia, accused of illegally supplied ketamine to the actor in the weeks preceding his death, pleaded guilty to four charges to distribute drugs and faces up to forty years in prison. He will be fixed on his fate on December 3. In parallel, Jasveen Sangha, nicknamed Ketamine Queen and suspected of having sold the fatal dose, remains incarcerated pending trial, set for September 23, 2025.
