The sharks return to Paris! Sous la Seine 2 has started filming

The sequel to the 2024 Netflix hit will be released in 2027 on the platform.

Can we really swim in the Seine in 2026?

In any case, Bérénice Bejo and Nassim Lyes will dive again. Under the Seine offers a sequel, announced for a long time.

And this time, the filming of Under the Seine 2 begins in the south of France, with the ambition of diving back into the heart of the aquatic chaos that marked the first film.

The plot takes place three years after the events of the first opus, when the Parisian triathlon turned into carnage under the attack of mutated sharks installed in the Seine… and capable of reproducing. Attempts to neutralize them had triggered a chain reaction, going so far as to flood the capital. In this sequel, Paris is still partly submerged (as the poster below suggests). Sophia and Adil meet for a high-risk mission: to track down Lilith, the original predator, in the heart of an infested Seine. But what they will discover goes far beyond the simple animal threat.

Notable change behind the scenes: Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D) takes charge of the production, succeeding Xavier Gens, who remains involved as co-writer and associate producer.

On the casting side, we will also see Guillaume Gouix, Philippe Bas, Manon Bresch and Anne Marivin.

Incidentally, we note that the poster announces a release date for 2027, on Netflix.

With over 102 million views since its release in 2024, Under the Seine has established itself as the biggest French success in the history of Netflix, and the second most viewed non-English language film on the platform.
