Cannes 2025: Philippe Katerine and Sophie Letourneur will open ACID
The selection dedicated to independent cinema has unveiled its programming.
After the Criticism and the Fifteenit’s now the turn of Acid (Association of independent cinema for its broadcast) to reveal its programming within this 78th edition of the Cannes Festival. 14 filmmakers have chosen 9 films Among hundreds, including 6 fictions and 3 documentaries. As every year, special attention is paid to independent feature films without distributors, and the association of filmmakers will accompany their post festival outing.
The Aventurathe new comedy of Sophie Letourneur,, will open this 33rd edition. As in Trip to Italy (2023), the director is in front of the camera alongside Philippe Katerine. This family road trip in Sardinia is told by the greatest of their two children, Claudine. Sophie Letourneur is also one of the two only women of this selectionwith Iranian Sepideh Farsi (The siren) which will present his new documentary: Put your soul on your hand and walk.
It will also be an opportunity to find the trio of directors of the highly appreciated Die in Ibiza (a film in three summers) – Anton Balekdjian, Léo Couture and Mattéo Eustachon – With Laurent in the winda dramatic comedy featuring in particular Béatrice Dalle. In the rest of the program: a Colombian western signed Aurélien Vernhes-Lermusiaux, the third feature film by Argentin Lucio Castro, and a moving musical reunion with A Light that Never Goes Out.
