The Spiderwick Chronicles gets a series remake: trailer
The literary saga of Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black is reborn on the small screen.
In 2008, the little Freddie HighmoreNot yet Good Doctor but already Charlie (from Tim Burton’s Chocolate Factory) and Arthur (from Minimoys) landed the lead role in a major fantasy film for children, The Spiderwick Chronicles, adapted from a literary saga of fantasy novels written by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. Lack of luck, the blockbuster did not have the same success as Narnia and stopped at a single opus, limited to 160 million dollars in box office revenue.
Almost 20 years later, Hollywood is trying to remake The Spiderwick Chroniclesbut this time on television, in a major fantasy TV series which offers an epic first trailer (below).
We find there Christian Slater in the shoes of the villain, Dr. Dorian Brauer aka the ogre Mulgarath, “hungry” for humans.
The story will follow “the coming-of-age story of the Grace family as they move from New York to Michigan and their family’s ancestral home. Upon their arrival, the family not only discovers mysteries hidden in their great-grandfather’s Spiderwick estate, but also discovers a secret and fantastical world around them.
This series Spiderwick was initially developed for Disney+, but last August the streamer announced that it would not be moving forward with this live-action adaptation, for which filming had already been completed. The episodes were then purchased by Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television, and it was ultimately the small Roku platform that would broadcast them.
All eight episodes will be released on Friday, April 19 on Roku in the United States. We do not yet know if this series The Spiderwick Chronicles will be broadcast in France.
