Tom Hanks has just started filming USS Greyhound 2
Five years after leading the Battle of the Atlantic on Apple TV, Tom Hanks is returning to sea. The Oscar-winning actor has just started filming the sequel in Australia…
World War II film bought by Apple in the middle of a pandemic, USS Greyhound: The Battle of the Atlantic had enjoyed huge success on the platform in 2020.
So much so that Apple Studios decided to produce a sequel.
The filming of USS Greyhound 2 is now underway, and Captain Tom Hanks is back to lead his troops.
The crew began filming in Australia, bringing back several key figures from the first film. The 69-year-old actor obviously reprises the role of Captain Krause – a character he had already written himself – confirming his total involvement in this war franchise which he pilots both in front of and behind the camera as producer.
Filming for the #Greyhound sequel starring Tom Hanks and Stephen Graham is now underway!

On the casting side, several familiar faces are back. According to Deadline, Stephen Graham will return as Charlie Cole, while Elisabeth Shue will also reprise her role. Jack Patten joins the cast, still being finalized.
As director, Aaron Schneider also returns after directing the first opus.
USS Greyhound 2will greatly expand the scope of the story. Where the first film followed Captain Krause during the Battle of the Atlantic, this new chapter will accompany the crew beyond the European front, with a plot that will extend to the Pacific theater of the Second World War.
No official release date has yet been announced, but the current production schedule suggests a streaming arrival in 2027 on Apple TV.
