Viral video compiles Bob Odenkirk’s Emmy losses
Better Call Saul and its main actor have never been rewarded despite their 53 nominations…
It is considered one of the best series of the 21st century, and for some it even surpasses its big sister, breaking Bad. Yet, Better Call Saul has never won an Emmy Award. At the end of the last ceremony, which was held on Sunday, she even holds a sad record with now zero awards for 53 nominations. No series has done worse.
Golden farewell for Succession, crowned at the 2023 Emmy Awards: all the awards
Better Call Saul having bowed out in August 2022, after 6 seasons and 63 high-level episodes, it was the last chance for the show created by Vince Gilligan. And its main performer, Bob Odenkirkwho played lawyer Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman for nearly 15 years.
Every year he was nominated for the Emmy for Best Actor, and every year he lost. In 2015 against Jon Hamm (Mad Men), in 2016 against Rami Malek (Mr Robot), then Sterling K. Brown (This is Us) in 2017, Billy Porter (Laid) in 2019, Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) in 2022 and finally Kieran Culkin (Succession) This year.
A video compiling the reactions of Bob Odenkirk with each of his defeats (in reality the one in 2019 is missing) has gone viral in recent days, while fans of Better Call Saul share their distress on social networks. We see the actor first sincerely happy for his competitors, then clearly disillusioned during the last ceremony, where he was not the favorite against Kieran Culkin or Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us).
