The indoor film: Dewlap by Jean-Claude Barny

At a time when endimanché stars are jostling at the gate to embody other stars on the big screen (often dead!) In search of trophies guaranteed on invoice, see an unidentified actor in the skin of a big forgotten man, deserves that we straighten up. Frantz Fanon (1925-1961), psychiatrist, thinker, essayist, philosopher and above all anti-colonialist activists, landed in 1953 in a hospital in French Algeria and challenges the filthy methods that reign there. This experience will nourish his fundamental essay, The damned of the earthand therefore the third length of Barny (Nèg Maron,, The West Indian gang) The deliberately didactic style of the present film does not intend to revolutionize the genre but above all to be well heard and understand. In the skin of (super) hero, A Complete Unknown So, Alexandre Bouyer. His clear and deep voice becomes the very music of the film.

The movie streaming: Banger of so me

SO Me’s first film (aka Bertrand Lagros de Langeron, artistic director of the Electro Ed Bangers label) is a delusional comedy where Vincent Cassel embodies Scorpex, DJ Ringard recruited by the DGSI to wedge his rival, Vestax (Mister V). Perfect pretext to parody the world of electronic music and offer Cassel a role of hilarious Loser, faced with absurd situations that are linked to 100 per hour. The great strength of Banger is to assume to be a film of scenes at the Zolanderwhere each supporting role (Laura Felpin, Alexis Manenti, Déborah Lukumuena, Panayotis Pascot…) is entitled to his moment of glory.

The series: Dying for sex

The subject is painful, the light shape. This is a drama that approaches the end of life with a rare audacity and a great humanity. Achievement of incurable cancer, Molly refuses to be defined by her diagnosis. She began a quest for pleasure and freedom, exploring her sexuality while giving meaning to her last months. Michelle Williams accurately embodies this fragile and determined woman, while Jenny Slate, as a better friend, breathes humor and tenderness. A touching duo for an original and difficult series.

The film in VOD: Fanfare Emmanuel Courcol

Unjustly left stamped of the César, this third feature film by Emmanuel Courcol, was however one of the great successes of French cinema in 2024. The filmmaker stages a conductor in the international renown who learns from a blow that he suffers from a serious illness, that he was adopted and has a brother, employed by a school canteen and member of a fanfare in the north of which Bone before weaving ties with him. As in his previous film A triumph, It is through the quality of its scenario, its management of twists and turns and its ability to never pour into the easy tear that Courcol touches just. A feel good movie against a background of social determinism where the duo Benjamin Lavernhe-Pierre Lottin works wonders.

The documentary: Val Kilmer – A life between “Top Gun” and “The Doors”

To pay tribute to Val Kilmer, who died this week at the age of 65, we can iron his best films (there is embarrassment of choice, of Top secret! has Kiss Kiss Bang Bang by the way Heat), petition for the warner to come out of the “Schumacher Cut” of Batman Foreveror, even better, (re) see ValveMagnificent document from 2021, portrait of the health actor feared by throat cancer and tracheotomy. Nourished by hundreds of hours of videos shot by kilmer since his childhood, narrated by his son Jack (who lends his voice to his father in an overwhelming generational relay passage), Valve Navigate between the Chialant Home-Movie and the Hallucinated Cinephile Document. The movie on TV: Little victories de Mélanie Auffret

It was one of the success and deserves of the Ciné 2023 year. Mélanie Auffret (Roxane) recounts the fight of the mayor-instructor of a Breton village to avoid the closure of her school where you have just entered … A sixties suddenly eager to learn to read and write. A feeling good movie touching, joyful, and never cuters through which the director explores rural desertification over situations that the harsh reality leads to the field of the absurd but without ever pouring into the picturesque. And this thanks to a finely chiseled writing and the quality of its interpretation: Julia Piaton and the late Michel Blanc irresistible in a gruff with a tender heart.
