When Deadpool 3 Could Have Been a Closed-Door Movie Without Wolverine
The whole story would have taken place in a single room, says Kevin Feige.
As we know, the acquisition of 20th Century Fox by Disney has disrupted all plans for a possible Deadpool 3. Behind the scenes, Ryan Reynolds has long pushed Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige to bring back the character in an R-rated film. And during that time, the actor has clearly been throwing out concepts in spades. In an interview with Den of GeekFeige says that ” Ryan is an idea machine who could pitch a Deadpool movie a day, and he actually did for a while while we were working (on what would become Deadpool & Wolverine).”
He specifies in particular that one of these pitches was “A low-budget, one-room movie. A Christmas movie. His love for the character and his ability to draw new things out of him knows no bounds. But you couldn’t find the emotional backbone of the movie until Hugh Jackman suddenly called Ryan and said he wanted to come back. »
During an interview with Entertainment WeeklyRyan Reynolds also mentioned another version of the Deadpool 3 script, the equivalent of a ” Sundance indie film. It would have cost 5 or 6 million, without any special effects. It was just a road trip with me and Dopinder (Karan Soni’s taxi driver character), and what we would have seen along the way. The idea was not at all to make it an event film (…) It was probably the weirdest version. I liked it, I thought it was fun. »
