Adria Arjonawho embodies BIX CAFAENErecently expressed itself on the overwhelming exit of his character, a little before the end of season 2 ofAndor. Bix does not appear in Rogue One: A Star Wars Storyand the series gives a clear explanation to its absence, through a poignant farewell which will play a central role in the evolution of Cassian Andor.
In episode 9 of season 2, entitled “Welcome to the rebellion”Cassian (interpreted by Diego Luna) find Bix After the massacre of Ghorman. Together, they take refuge on Yavin and share an intimate evening. Cassian confides that he has so far been lucky, but that she will eventually turn. He then plans to leave the struggle to finally live a peaceful life with her. But Bix consulted a healer sensitive to force, which revealed to him that Cassian is perceived as a “messenger” of capital importance. She cannot accept that he is leaving the revolution for her. So the next morning, Cassian wakes up alone. Bix has disappeared, leaving a video message:
“I have to go. I have to go. I don’t know where, or for how long. I just know that I can’t stay here with you now. I think you’ve said, it’s a choice. But it can’t be me. I can’t be the reason why you abandon. If you left it all for me … I would never be forgiven. I choose for both of us.
This message marks the end of the Bix path in the series, and gives a logical meaning to its absence in Snape One.
Adria Arjona told TVLine that the creator of the series, Tony Gilroyhad warned him very early on the departure of his character: “The strength of Tony Gilroy is that he believes that information is power. He wants to inform his actors well upstream.” Even before the final speech was written, Gilroy had called him to tell him what was going to happen.
At the time, Arjona turned Hit man With Glen Powell. It is certain that this anticipation helped her to better understand Bix’s narrative arc: “When you finally read the scene, you feel a very special connection.”
The shooting of this farewell scene was one of the most intense moments of his career. “This speech… I had a blue scare,” she admitted. “It was probably one of the most stressful days of all my filming. In my whole life.»
Bix and Adria Arjona have so farewell to Cassian, and Star Wars. The series Andor will end next week on Disney Plus.
