Wonder Man: will the Marvel series have a season 2?

The showrunner is already teasing a sequel… to find out what happened to Josh Gad!

The new Marvel series has just arrived on Disney Plus, with a nice little buzz. So is a Wonder Man sequel possible?

Showrunner Andrew Guest admits a season 2 is possible. He notably teases a return of Josh Gad.

Spoiler alert!

Unlikely guest star of episode 4 devoted to Door Man, the actor literally disappears into a superhero. But what happened to Josh Gad being swallowed by Door Man after trying to “pass through” him? And above all: will we ever see him again?

Good news: yes… in theory.

In an interview with Dexerto Andrew Guest announced: “Josh Gad is alive and he is currently inside Door Man.” And he even teases the sequel: “If we have a season 2, I promise to take Josh Gad out of Door Man, and put him back into the world.”

Better: Guest already imagines a completely Marvel twist (and completely absurd, therefore perfect). “I thought maybe Josh Gad could get the Door Man’s powers back, after being stuck inside him for so long. Maybe Josh Gad becomes the new Door Man!”

This episode 4, deliberately standalone, follows DeMarr Davis, a box bouncer who became a superhero under the name of Door Man. Gad plays an exaggerated version of himself, while DeMarr suddenly becomes a media sensation after saving people from a fire. The episode also introduces the famous “Doorman Clause”, an internal rule in the universe of the series: an insurance policy which prohibits people with powers from acting… after the mysterious disappearance of Josh Gad. An event that triggers a domino effect.

One question remains: will there really be a season 2 of Wonder Man?

Guest tempers. For him, everything will depend on reception: a sequel could see the light of day depending on how “the public responds” to the series. Asked by MovieWeb about the fact that Wonder Man is presented as a “Marvel Spotlight” (and therefore potentially standalone) while being labeled “season 1”, the showrunner explains that they designed a story capable of continuing, while offering a real conclusion: “Our job was to make a series that could last, of course, but which would also be satisfying at the end.”

And above all he slips the key: if the fans ask for more, Marvel will follow. “If there’s an audience and a fanbase that’s asking for more Simon and Trevor, I think we’ll both get more.”

All eight episodes of Wonder Man are available now on Disney+.
