X-Men ’97: the oh-so-vintage trailer for the new animated series
It will be the direct sequel to the cult 90s cartoon.
30 years later, here is the direct sequel. On September 20, 1997, “Graduation Day”, the grand finale of the cartoon, was broadcast. X-Men (which you can see here). In this episode 14 of season 5, Charles Xavier was at the end of the tunnel. Preaching his last advice to his dear mutants, he left, taken by Lilandra in her ship towards the world of Shi’ar, the only place where he can now survive.
In short, Professor X is no more and the new series X-Men ’97, the aptly named, continues the story directly, and will resume this finale in the following days. So in 1997, as this first trailer posted by Disney reveals:
“We must say vigilant, the professor entrusted us with his dream”, Cyclops tells his team in this video, as anti-mutant protests in the streets multiply. And then Magneto took control of everything Professor X built thanks to his last will and testament.
X-Men ’97 will begin on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 20.
The cast brings back some voice actors from the original series: Cal Dodd in the role of Wolverine, Ray Chase in the role of Cyclops, Alison Sealy-Smith in the role of Storm, Jennifer Hale in the role of Jean Grey, JP Karliak in the role of as Morph, George Buza as the Beast, Lenore Zann as Rogue, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler and Matthew Waterson as Magneto.
