“You wouldn’t say that about Tom Cruise…” This other actor criticized by Tarantino responds to him
Paul Dano is not the only one to have been targeted by the director.
Quentin Tarantino revealed his top 20 best films of the 21st century last week, but he himself dynamited the discussion by attacking Paul Dano, guilty according to him of having pushed back There Will be Blood in its ranking.
“Paul Dano, it’s very weak man (…) you put Daniel Day-Lewis against the weakest male actor of Hollywood actors? The most lazy guy in the world?”, had released Tarantino in Bret Easton Ellis’ podcast, causing a huge wave of support for the comedian.
Hollywood steps up to defend Paul Dano
But he was not the only one to have taken a stray bullet (rather a burst concerning Dano) that day. During his discussion with the author ofAmerican PsychoTarantino had detailed that Paul Dano was part of the list of actors he was not interested in:
“I don’t care about Dano, I don’t care about Owen Wilson, and I don’t care about Matthew Lillard“.
The actor of Scream And Scooby-Doocurrently showing in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2″reacted to the QT spike at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio.
“Quentin Tarantino said this week that he didn’t like me as an actor. Who cares, honestly?“, he declared, before admitting that he had not really liked the filmmaker’s words:
“Look, the fact is it’s hurtful. It’s fucking annoying. You wouldn’t say that about Tom Cruise, you wouldn’t say that about someone who’s a top actor in Hollywood.”
Unlike Paul Dano, who has taken on prestigious roles for great directors (12 Years a Slave, Prisoners, The Fabelmans…), Matthew Lillard didn’t see Hollywood coming to his rescue. This affair reminds him that he does not play in the same category, and that is not pleasant to hear.
“I’m very popular here. I’m not very popular in Hollywood. Two totally different microcosms, right? So, you know, it’s a lesson in humility that hurts. “
