Return to Sin City for Martin Scorsese… but this time for a Netflix series.

The New York filmmaker, already very present in TV fiction since Boardwalk Empire, joins forces with a well-established team of showrunners for a new drama set in the ruthless world of contemporary Las Vegas casinos.

According to Variety, Scorsese will serve as executive producer. As of yet untitled, the series was created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien – the duo behind Billions and Super Pumped. They will provide both showrunning and executive production.

The series is described as “an hour-long drama immersed in the ultra-competitive casino business of modern-day Las Vegas, a modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city.” At the center of the story: Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, president of the hottest casino-hotel on the Strip, forced to make very risky bets to maintain his position… and grab even more ground in an environment where no one gives gifts.

Netflix has already ordered eight episodes, although no release date yet.

Koppelman and Levien had already visited Vegas, having notably co-written Ocean’s Thirteen.

Martin Scorsese has been accumulating projects: since Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), he has notably been developing a criminal thriller bringing together Leonardo DiCaprio, Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson, centered on criminal networks in Hawaii which is due to be filmed next year. But 30 years after Casino, this new mafia series from Vegas by Marty is bound to get people talking…
