Chase Infiniti reprises Handmaid’s Tale fight in The Testaments trailer
Like mother like daughter? The revelation of One Battle After Another lands in Gilead. To make the revolution again?
Gilead still stands. But the cracks are widening.
A new page opens in the dystopian universe imagined by Margaret Atwood. The Testaments, a direct sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, will arrive on April 8 on Disney+.
Adapted from the novel of the same name, the series is presented as an initiatory story centered on a new generation of young women raised in Gilead. Born and indoctrinated into this totalitarian regime, they have no memory of the world before. Promised to be forced marriages and a life of servitude, they will have to look for allies – old and new – to hope to win their freedom and regain control of their destiny.
The trailer unveiled today by Disney + suggests that within the system itself, forces are still active to shake the regime from within.
Ann Dowd reprises her role as Aunt Lydia, still torn. Above all, at his side, Chase Infiniti plays Agnes MacKenzie, who is none other than Hannah Bankole, the eldest daughter of June Osborn, kidnapped and adopted by a Commander of Gilead. Is she totally under the influence of the system or will she try to break it from the inside? Lucy Halliday will be alongside him to play Daisy, a young woman recently arrived from Canada. But why did she choose Gilead?
“Agnes MacKenzie, this is Daisy. Make her feel comfortable,” Aunt Lydia commands in the video. But the footage suggests Daisy might not be there by chance. Could she be linked to Mayday, the resistance network for which June, Luke and Moira risked everything?
The cast also includes Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World), Mattea Conforti (Power), Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana and Birva Pandya (The Umbrella Academy).
The Testaments will launch on Wednesday April 8 with three episodes, followed by a weekly schedule.
The world premiere of The Testaments will take place in France, in Lille, for the opening of the Séries Mania festival.
