Cameron Diaz takes over as head of the Beverly Hills Scouts

The star who has just resumed his career in Hollywood is working on the sequel to an old American comedy from the 1980s.

Cameron Diaz’s return to Hollywood continues. One year later Back in Actionwhich marked his comeback after a decade of absence (to devote himself to his family), the star of Mary at all costs will be in Jonah Hill’s next film tomorrow, Blackmailopposite Keanu Reeves (streaming release on Apple TV).

And already, Cameron Diaz continues. She is currently developing a sequel to the 1989 American comedy, Beverly Hills Scouts (Troop Beverly Hills) farce of the 80s which went largely unnoticed in France. The project is in preparation at TriStar Pictures, with Clea DuVall directing, on a script that she wrote herself. The actress should play one of the main roles in this new film, the plot of which remains kept secret for the moment.

Released in 1989, the original film starred Shelley Long as Phyllis Nefler, a wealthy, divorcing housewife determined to prove to her daughter that she can lead a wilderness scout troop. Problem: she knows luxury shopping much better than campfires…

Behind this project, Cameron Diaz will also produce alongside Laurence Mark and his partner Katherine Power, with whom she co-founded the organic wine brand Avaline.

For the moment, we do not know if this return of Beverly Hills Scouts is intended for cinema or a streaming platform. No date announced.
