A young director for the new Blair Witch Project
The remake produced by James Wan and Jason Blum is moving forward.
A new walk in the forest?
The myth Blair Witch is about to be reborn with a new version piloted by Dylan Clark for Lionsgate.
This reboot also marks the unexpected return of historic faces: actors Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams, who were part of the first horrific dive into the woods, join the project as executive producers. That’s good: they were complaining about being ignored for years by the studio. They were obviously heard.
Alongside them, the creators of the original film, Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick and Gregg Hale, will also be involved.
Dylan Clark is a very young filmmaker who has only made short films and who will have the opportunity to make his first feature here.
The details of the plot remain secret, but the ambition is clear: to delve into the entire mythology of The Blair Witch Project to pass it on to a new generation.
As a reminder, the original 1999 film followed three students who disappeared while filming a documentary on the legend of the Witch of Blair Forest. Presented as a true story, the film became a worldwide phenomenon, grossing $248 million (at a paltry production cost), becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
At the helm of this new iteration, we will also find two horror heavyweights: James Wan (Atomic Monster) and Jason Blum (Blumhouse), brought together to relaunch one of the most iconic sagas of the genre.
