Oops, Ian McKellen drops a spoiler on Magneto in Avengers: Doomsday

Back in the Marvel Universe, the X-Men drop a bomb on the next Avengers.

Guest on the show The Late Show, Ian McKellen revealed a little bit about his role in Avengers: Doomsday.

I don’t always understand the stories in these films. For this one, I don’t think I’m spoiling anything by revealing that Magneto destroys New Jersey“, quietly blurted out the 86-year-old actor. Faced with the hilarity of the public, he said: “I’m sorry about that New Jersey! My fault.”

He ends up getting up to give the audience a taste of his performance in the sequel to the franchise. As if he were there, his arms stretched out in front of his body, he continues: “And the wind blows through my hair, and I go into furious mode/turn on my furious mode, and I try to be magnetic. And the director in the microphone screams : ‘Ian, look angrier!'”

Ian McKellen continues his lyrical stride in front of presenter Stephen Colbert: “He says (the director), ‘Shout something!‘I said:’What am I shouting?‘ He replies: ‘Scream while thinking of the worst thing you can imagine!‘So I shouted,’Mar-a-lago!’”, to the laughter of the audience, won over by his intervention.

A visibly colorful shoot and not without irony.

This next Avengersthe firm’s biggest blockbuster since Endgame, joins the X-Men. A Marvel Comics merger highly anticipated by fans, still looking for a trailer after the teasers which presented part of the casting.

Ian McKellen has been playing Magneto for 26 years now and the very first film in the trilogy X-Men released in 2000. His last appearance in the Marvel universe dates back to X-Men: Days of Future Pastin 2014.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 16, 2026 in French theaters.
