Dark creators join season 2 of It: Welcome to Derry
The writing center is being structured while awaiting official confirmation from HBO.
What happens next is still unclear… but already in the process of building muscle behind the scenes.
Season 2 of It: Welcome to Derry is being structured with the arrival of new writers from very prominent series.
According to several reports not confirmed at this stage by HBO. According to Nexus Point News, several authors have joined the project to continue the adaptation of Stephen King, even though the channel has not yet made this second season official. Among the names mentioned are Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the German duo to whom we owe the fantastic series Dark (and the less brilliant 1899) but also Jessica Mecklenburg, who helped write the first season of Stranger Things. Also added are John McCutcheon (The Penguin), Donald Joh (Invasion, Snowpiercer) and Tara Shivkumar.
If this information is confirmed, it would mark a significant expansion of the writing team, suggesting a season 2 that is more ambitious and perhaps denser in its approach to the myth of Derry.
As a reminder, It: Welcome to Derry is developed by Andy Muschietti, already director of the It films, alongside Jason Fuchs and Barbara Muschietti. The series looks back at the origins of the evil that haunts the city of Derry, long before the events known to the general public.
The first season having received a generally positive reception, the work on a sequel now seems to be progressing internally, even if no official timetable has been communicated. For the moment, radio silence on the filming or release date.
