Devil May Cry will end after season 3 on Netflix

Netflix has just renewed its animated series for a third season, but this will also be the last.

Netflix has officially ordered a season 3 of Devil May Cry. This third chapter will also mark the conclusion of the animated adaptation of Capcom’s famous video game.

Showrunner Adi Shankar, however, assures that this ending was planned from the start:

“For those who paid attention to the episode titles, I was showing you the structure from the beginning. It was always Dante’s Divine Comedy, with weapons and a red cloak.”

The producer even details the construction of the series: “Season 1 was ‘Inferno’. Season 2 was ‘Purgatorio’. Season 3 will be ‘Paradiso’. These three seasons constitute the Force Edge saga. From the start, it was designed as a trilogy of films disguised as a television series.”

Set in 2025, the series follows Dante, a lone demon hunter who finds himself at the heart of a conflict that threatens to merge the human and demon worlds. The first two seasons were very successful on Netflix, accumulating several weeks in the global English-speaking Top 10 on the platform.
