Timothée Chalamet in his first animated film: Not Alone trailer
A great love and science fiction story, also with the voice of Selena Gomez.
For the first time in his career, Timothée Chalamet will lend his voice to an animated film hero. The actor will be appearing in Not Alonethe next original feature film from studio Illumination. Neither adaptation of a Nintendo game, nor new spin-off of Despicable Methe film presents itself as a great romantic science fiction tale.
Timothée Chalamet plays Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic who leads a peaceful and solitary existence.
To the sound of Space Oddity by David Bowie, the very pretty trailer unveiled today shows how Joe falls in love with Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist who develops the very first rocket powered by plants. The character is voiced by Selena Gomez, the star of Only Murders in the Building. As their love story begins, their space mission takes an unexpected turn: Fran’s revolutionary rocket crosses paths with an alien ship heading for Earth…
“Their lives become complicated when three tiny but turbulent aliens find refuge at Joe’s house. Named Dunk, Welly and Shirm, they are on the run across the galaxy, pursued by Zandro, a law enforcement agent as zealous as he is incompetent. The three aliens think Fran’s rocket could get them home safely“, specifies the official synopsis.
The three aliens are voiced by British actors Rob Brydon (barbie), Diane Morgan (Cunk on Earth) and Jamie Demetriou (Cruella), who respectively lend their voices to Dunk, Welly and Shirm.
The voice cast is also rounded out by Oscar winner Allison Janney and Emmy winner Lamorne Morris (Fargo).
Not Alone is directed by Frenchman Eric Guillon, co-director of Despicable Me 3 and historic artistic director of franchises Despicable Me And The Minions. An emblematic figure of Illumination, he also signed the design of Like animals And All on stage. He co-directed the film with Claire Dodgson, editor of The Lorax, The Minions, Despicable Me 3 And Minions 2: Once upon a time Gruas well as with Jonathan Del Val, co-director of Minions 2: Once upon a time Gru And Like beasts 2.
Not Alone will be released on March 31, 2027 in theaters in France.
