Gandalf, Sauron and Celeborn will be revealed in season 3 of Rings of Power
New, never-before-seen images have just been revealed and say a lot about what awaits us in the rest of the Prime Video series.
Rings of Power season 3 will definitely bring the big names of Middle-earth to the forefront. Prime Video has just revealed (via Empire) several new images which confirm the arrival of emblematic characters… and the transformation of certain others.
First, the Stranger played by Daniel Weyman is now officially Gandalf. The magician finally appears with his famous pointy hat and his staff, in a look very close to the one fans know.
“I discovered a new side of him,” Daniel Weyman told Empire. “His mischievous side, that little sparkle in his eyes…”
The other big news will be the arrival of Celeborn, played by Jamie Campbell Bower. An essential character in Tolkien’s work, he is known to viewers of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, where he was played by Marton Csokas. Elf lord of Lórien and above all husband of Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), he will finally make his debut in the series. The actor promises a more romantic side of the character: “He’s a transfixed lover. This idea of desire and waiting runs completely through his story.”
Finally, Annatar’s deception is over. After having manipulated the Elves under a false identity, Charlie Vickers will appear this time in the guise of the real Sauron, with his imposing armor and his famous helmet. The season will also see the Dark Lord forge the One Ring in Mordor, a key moment in Tolkien’s mythology.
“No one is safe,” co-showrunner Patrick McKay warns in Empire. “This third season is darker and more dangerous.”
Rings of Power season 3 will be released online on November 11, 2026 on Prime Video.
