Milla Jovovich Joins Season 2 of Heated Rivalry
The romance between Shane and Ilya will take on a new dimension and welcome the star of Resident Evil and The Fifth Element.
Season 2 of Heated Rivalry continues to strengthen its cast.
While the romantic series centered on two hockey players is currently in production, Milla Jovovich joins the cast of this second season. The Resident Evil and The Fifth Element star will play Dr. Galina Molchalina, a Russian therapist who accompanies Ilya Rozanov.
Kevin Zegers will play coach Brandon Wiebe, a former professional hockey player turned coach of the Ottawa Centaurs. Finally, Paul Gross will lend his features to commissioner Roger Crowell, an important figure in the league.
The two heroes will obviously be back. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie will reprise their respective roles as Shane and Ilya, whose relationship became one of the big phenomena of the first season. But their love story remains difficult to live out in the open, while their professional careers continue to gain momentum.
This second season will be mainly inspired by The Long Game, sixth novel in the literary saga Game Changers by Rachel Reid. The plot picks up several years after the events of the first season, with Shane and Ilya now older and settled in their careers, but still facing complicated choices regarding their future together.
The season should also draw on Role Model and Tough Guy, the third and fourth novels in the series, notably through the arrival of new characters.
Sophie Nélisse, François Arnaud, Robbie GK, Christina Chang and Dylan Walsh will also return.
After the success of season 1, this season 2 of Heated Rivalry is expected in spring 2027 on HBO Max in France.
