Does Ryan Reynolds make a cameo in the Lanterns series?

The ex-DC star had declared that he would be “totally” up for making an appearance in the HBO Max series… which has just humorously granted his request.

Ryan Reynolds takes on the Green Lantern costume… well not really.

HBO Max was amused by the actor’s recent statement, who explained that he was quite willing to make a cameo in the new DC series, by publishing a doctored video giving the impression that “his” Hal Jordan did indeed appear in Lanterns.

As a reminder, Ryan Reynolds played Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern film released in 2011. In the new HBO series, Kyle Chandler takes over the role, alongside Aaron Pierre, who plays John Stewart.

The video published by HBO Max begins with Reynolds’ interview with Entertainment Tonight, in which he says he is ready to make an appearance. Then the images switch to a scene from Lanterns. Hal Jordan and John Stewart then look at the sky, before Chandler says: “What the fuck is this thing?”

In the real scene, visible in the second episode of the series, the two Lanterns actually observe a bird made by John Stewart using his ring. HBO Max simply replaced the bird with a digital version of Ryan Reynolds in the Hal Jordan costume, making him fly through the sky and even do a few somersaults. The actor, although very active on social networks, has not yet reacted to this joke. And barring any surprises, this cameo will therefore remain… a false cameo.
