The Zelda film has an official title and will not be adapted from a title in the saga

According to Shigeru Miyamoto, the first live-action feature film will draw on all of the stories from the Zelda games.

It will not be necessary to look for Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild or other Tears of the Kingdom in the subtitle for the first live-action Zelda film.

Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed last night that Nintendo’s live-action adaptation will simply bear the name of the famous franchise. And its title will therefore simply be: The Legend of Zelda.

During a new Nintendo Direct dedicated to the film, the legendary creator of the saga explained:

“Once you see the film, you will understand why there are no subtitles…”

A deliberately mysterious sentence, which suggests that the title could have real importance in the story.

Miyamoto also mentioned the Triforcean emblematic element of the Zelda universe, without revealing precisely the role she will play in the feature film.

“We’ll share more details later, so we hope you’ll look forward to that“, he simply promised.

A film that will not be adapted from any particular game

Announced in 2023, the film The Legend of Zelda was filmed last winter in New Zealand. Directed by Wes Ball, to whom we owe in particular The Labyrinth And Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdomit will not be directly adapted from a specific episode of the saga.

Miyamoto reveals that the film will draw on all of the stories, ideas and concepts developed in Zelda games over 40 years. He describes it as “an original film based on the series’ many stories, ideas and concepts, built over 40 years of gaming.”

The exact plot therefore remains carefully kept secret. However, we expect to find Link and Princess Zelda, faced with a new threat weighing on the kingdom of Hyrule, with Ganondorf in the role of the main antagonist.

The cast includes Benjamin Evan Ainsworth in the role of Link, Bo Bragason in that of Zelda and Uli Latukefu in that of Ganondorf.
