New recruit of choice in The Beast in Me.

According to Variety, John Goodman has just joined season 2 of the Netflix series, the renewal of which was announced last September. He will play Jack, the father of Aggie Wiggs, still played by Claire Danes. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps.

With eleven Emmy nominations to his credit, John Goodman is best known for his role in the cult sitcom Roseanne, which earned him seven nominations. He also made his mark on the small screen with The Righteous Gemstones, on HBO, and Damages, on FX.

In the cinema, the actor has collaborated several times with brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, in films like Arizona Junior, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski and O’Brother. He has also appeared in Argo, Flight and, more recently, Digger.

Initially presented as a mini-series when it launched in 2024, The Beast in Me therefore ultimately continues its story.

The first season notably allowed Matthew Rhys to win the Emmy Award for best actor in a miniseries or anthology series. The series also won awards for its original music.

Howard Gordon, already showrunner of the first season, will be co-showrunner of this second round of episodes.

No release date has yet been announced for season 2 of The Beast in Me.
