A season 3 already ordered for The Pitt
Noah Wyle is not about to hang up his white coat.
Just before reopening their doors for a season 2, The Pitt emergency knows that they will continue to film next year.
The HBO Max medical series has been renewed for a third season. At the Season 2 launch event held last night in Los Angeles, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, officially confirmed the renewal.
This announcement comes one day before the broadcast of the second season of the medical drama led by Noah Wyle, crowned Best Drama at the Emmy Awards. Created by R. Scott Gemmill, the series began in 2025 and tells the daily life of caregivers in Pittsburgh’s emergency rooms over 15 episodes. Each season covers the progress of a single shift, with each episode following a specific time of this shift.

“It’s difficult to create a good series, whether it’s a comedy, a drama or a documentary. But what John, Noah and Scott wanted to do from the start was a series that was high quality, while still being structured in a way that they could produce 15 episodes. The concept of the series, centered essentially on a single setting, helped make the budget manageable,” Bloys told Variety after the Emmy Awards. “And you have a group of people who know how to produce 15 episodes, but also how to relaunch the series every year. This is precisely what is missing in television today, this ability to bring back a series year after year.”
This season 3 should therefore be released in 2027. Until then, season 2 of The Pitt will begin on January 9 on HBO Max in France, with one episode broadcast each week.
The cast includes Noah Wyle (Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch), Patrick Ball (Dr. Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos) and Moafi (Dr. Al-Hashimi).
