Baya Kasmi won the César for the best original script In 2011 for the film The names of peoplelargely inspired by his own life. In early 2023, the director and screenwriter unveiled her new film Youssef Salem is successfula comedy rather well received by the public. The feature was screened at Angoulême Francophone Film Festival of 2024, out of competition.
