Alien Change Director: Fede Alvarez passes the torch
“We are looking for a new filmmaker to take over”.
Fede Alvarez, who had relaunched the saga Alien last year with Alien: Romuluswill not be back for the future.
The director announces that he will not resume the camera for the next opus of the franchise at the cinema.
Fede Alvarez confirmed it in an interview with TOOFAB:
“”We just finished the scenario of the Romulus suite. But I’m going to pass the torch as a director. I’m going to produce it, with Ridley Scott. We will produce it together and are currently looking for a new filmmaker to take over. “
A witness passage which is part of the history of the franchise. After making the original in 1979, Ridley Scott had given way to James Cameron for Aliens In 1986, then to David Fincher (Alien 31992) and Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Alien Resurrection1997). Spin-offs Alien vs. Predator were then entrusted to Paul WS Anderson and the Greg and Colin Strause brothers, before Scott returned in the 2010s with Prometheus And Alien: Covenant.
Alien: Romulus had been enthusiastically welcomed by criticism and fans, garnering $ 351 million at the world box office, the best score of the franchise for years.
This summer, Alvarez had clarified still being in preproduction, with a set scheduled for October. Finally, he will pass on the production side, while leaving another care to stage:
“This is generally what has always happened, except for Ridley. We make a film, then we pass the relay. We wanted to continue the story started with Romulus, and now we are looking for a director who wants to go straight to the jugular.”
While waiting to know who will have the honor to play with the next xenomorphs, the universe Alien is in the hands of Noah Hawley on earth for the series Alien: Earth currently underway. What if Hawley continued the adventure with a film?
