The actors’ strike brings Hollywood to a standstill!
After Oppenheimerso it was the preview of another major production that was impacted this weekend: that of Haunted Mansion, a new live-action film from Disney studios, inspired by the famous Disneyland attraction, almost 20 years after it was first adapted to the cinema with Eddie Murphy. In the casting of this new Haunted Mansionwe find in particular Lakeith Stanfield, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Tiffany Haddish, or even Jared Leto…
To counter the absence of this prestigious cast, Disney therefore pulled out all the stops by calling on several mascots to the rescue: Mickey and Minnie Mouse, but also Maleficent, Cruella and the Witch Queen of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came to parade on the red carpet. The holding of this event follows the controversial remarks of the boss of Disney Bob Iger, who describes this strike of the actors as a movement “unrealistic”, mentioning “one of the worst times in the world to add this disruption to it.”
The director of Haunted Mansion Justin Simienthe only personality from the film present at this preview taking place at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, spoke about the situation: “Let me tell you about something unrealistic: me who became a director being gay and black, while coming from Houston, Texas. What made me believe that I could become a director and so many other things was by watching these films in which we find characters with unrealistic dreams. Many artists believe in these dreams and therefore contribute to the creation of films and products (…) I would very much like to speak with Bob Iger about the reality that we have to face as artists, who do all this who is in their power to try to make the impossible happen“, declares Justin Simien at the microphone of Variety.
