Best first day of the year in France for Avatar: Of Fire and Ashes
James Cameron’s blockbuster does better than Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia 2, for its debut at the French box office.
How many entries will Avatar 3 by the end of the year?
The sprint is on for Of Fire and Ashesin French cinemas since yesterday. And they are already filling up frantically. There were already more than 273,000 admissions at the end of the first day, in 728 cinemas (i.e. €2.9 million in revenue in France already), with a very good average of 376 spectators per print. It’s simply the best first day of the year.
And the Disney blockbuster thus surpasses… two other Disney films. Avatar 3 does better than Lilo & Stitch (260,176 tickets in 590 sites in May) and Zootopia 2 (253,488 tickets in 645 cinemas in November).
This bodes well for the rest of the James Cameron saga. Avatar 3 had a better first day thanAvatar 2 in 2022 (around 230,000 tickets sold in 800 theaters), which however had to face competition from a Football World Cup match between France and Morocco. The very first Avatar had done better, since 320,000 curious people had rushed into theaters on its first day in 2009 (but with previews at the time).
It should be noted thatAvatar And Avatar 2 had exceeded 14 million admissions in France!
The podium is completed by The Song of the Forests (16,000 spectators excluding AVP), the new animal documentary by Vincent Munier (The Snow Panther), And The ideal soul (11,000 tickets excluding AVP), Alice Vial’s comedy carried by Jonathan Cohen and Magalie Lépine-Blondeau.
