Box office: Monte Cristo resists but Beetlejuice keeps the lead
While James McAvoy starts off rather well with Speak no Evil.
For its second week in French cinemas, Beetlejuice2 confirmed. The sequel to the horror comedy attracted 350,000 fans Tim Burton additional in recent days in cinemas in France. Attendance is logically down 35%, but it is enough to allow the film to keep the lead at the French box office. Beetlejuice2 has already reached one million entries.
A milestone that The Count of Monte Cristo won a long time ago now. For its 13th week of operation, the epic carried by Pierre Niney continues to attract spectators, of whom more than 200,000 this week went to see the revenge of Edmond Dantès. The film has sold 8.5 million tickets.

Julie Delpy takes 5th place in this box office with The Barbarians. Its social comedy directed by Sandrine Kiberlain and Laurent Lafitte attracted 120,000 spectators, a much lower score than the director’s last French film. In 2015, Lolo with Dany Boon, started with 400,000 admissions and ended his career close to a million.
Finally, Neither chains nor masters of Simon Moutaïrou also starts at 120,000 entries just like The seeds of the wild fig tree from the Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulofwhich is already much better than his last film, The Devil does not exist (90,000 spectators in France in total in December 2021).
