Brothers: the bad joke by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson (review)

The two stars of True Detective have fun with their own legend in a comedy which starts from a tasty idea, but gets bogged down in a flat story and much too controlled false self-deprecation.

“Inspired by a real rumor,” the series immediately teases with irony.

Are Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson really brothers? This is a funny question, fueled for a long time by a statement from McConaughey’s mother, who claimed to have had a relationship with Harrelson’s father… No DNA test has come to resolve this improbable theory. But social networks immediately wanted to see some form of truth in it. That was all it took to give True Detective’s two old accomplices an idea for a series.

In Brothers, the two actors therefore play largely fictionalized versions of themselves……
