Camille Cottin joins the remake of Millénium

The French actress joins the cast of the new series adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s novels, alongside David Oyelowo and Viola Prettejohn.

Camille Cottin continues her international career.

After Ten Percent and Stillwater, the French actress joins the new series adaptation of Millennium, the literary saga by Stieg Larsson.

She will play Erika Berger, in this eight-episode fiction whose production is about to start.

She will star alongside David Oyelowo, who will play journalist Mikael Blomkvist, and Viola Prettejohn, chosen to play hacker Lisbeth Salander. Two characters previously played by Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara in David Fincher’s film released in 2011, and by Michael Nyqvist and Noomi Rapace in the Scandinavian films.

The cast also welcomes Jonathan Pryce as Henrik Vanger, James D’Arcy as Martin Vanger, Lena Olin as Isabella Vanger, Alun Armstrong as Harald Vanger, Jessica Raine as Cecilia Vanger and Paul Ready as Birger Vanger.

This new adaptation intends to transpose the story to our time, while retaining the characters, the mystery and the investigative dimension of the novels. In particular, it will explore the way in which power, secrecy and misogyny take new forms in the digital age.

The first volume follows Mikael Blomkvist, a fallen journalist, and Lisbeth Salander, an independent hacker, as they investigate the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, who disappeared more than thirty years earlier on the isolated island where one of Sweden’s most powerful industrial dynasties lives. By digging into the family’s past, the two investigators will uncover a threat that is much closer than they imagine.

Filming will begin in Lithuania. No release date has yet been announced. The series will be offered on Sky in several European territories, while Sony Pictures Television will handle international distribution.
