Cécile de France and Vincent Macaigne on a long, peaceful river (trailer)
The filmmaker of Séraphine (2008) returns with Bonnard Pierre et Marthe.
After being awarded 7 Césars for Seraphine (2008), Martin Provost has turned Violette, Midwife or The Good Wife. He will soon return with a film dedicated to the love story between Pierre Bonnard, post-impressionist painter, and Marthe de Meligny. The amorous fluctuations of this alloy play a role in the aesthetic and intoxicate the screen with shots littered with romantic landscapes from the 1890s in this Bonnard Peter and Marthaof which we discover the trailer.
It all begins when Pierre invites Marthe to his apartment to paint her. A romantic fresco is in full swing under a bucolic glow where an obvious sentimental alchemy exalts. The two lovers enjoy the benefits of a country lifestyle, away from prying eyes. Time passes and things no longer look like they used to. Pierre likes to change his muse and that displeases Marthe – but what would Pierre be without Marthe? His iconic model embodies the artistic quintessence of his paintings. In a tension similar to the romance between Rodin and Claudel, Pierre and Marthe suffer the threat of an implacable environment, especially for the original muses.
This magnetic couple is interpreted by Vincent Macaigne And Cécile of France. Bonnard Pierre and Marthe will be visible in theaters on January 10, 2024.
