As the French capital prepares for the Olympic Games in the summer of 2024, cinemas are asking themselves the question of the impact of the festivities on their attendance. Despite the presence of many factors still unknown, some have already made their decision for the summer.
Confirmed by The French Film, the Dulac Cinémas cinema network, owned by Sophie Dulac, has chosen to close its doors during the Olympic Games period. The network includes five Parisian establishments: the Arlequin (6th century), the Majestic Bastille (11th century), the Majestic Passy (11th century), the Reflet Médicis (5th century) and the Escurial Panorama (13th century).
The five rooms will close from Wednesday July 24 to Tuesday August 13, 2024. According to Sophie Dulac, this decision was taken in order to “save employees from very difficult transport constraints” And “save money”, anticipating the potential lack of art house films which make up the bulk of its network’s programming.
The other cinema networks have not yet communicated their decision.
