Does The Walking Dead finally deserve a prestigious Emmy Award?
The Ones Who Live, Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira and Norman Reedus offer the saga a real chance to finally win a prestigious award.
Undeniably, the zombie saga derived from Robert Kirkman has been a major pop-cultural phenomenon of the last decade. The Walking Dead was the number 1 series on the American small screen and the hottest television franchise for many seasons. And yet, she has rarely been rewarded.
Certainly, The Walking Dead has a few dozen secondary trophies to her credit, but she has never won a major prize at the Golden Globes (only 1 nomination in 2010) or at the Emmy Awards, the two reference ceremonies. Only competing for the Emmys in the technical categories, it only won two statuettes for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup in 2011 and 2012. But more than ten years later, the franchise hopes to finally win a prestigious Emmy Award, which would crown 15 years of success.
The American channel AMC has announced its strategy for the next ceremony (which will take place in September) and will mainly focus on The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The Rick and Michonne reunion series was quite a success. And she is officially a candidate for nomination to the Emmy Awards 2024 in the Best Limited Series category. Andrew Lincoln And Danai Gurira will be in the running to be nominated in the Best Actor and Best Actress in a Limited Series categories, while Pollyanna McIntosh (Jadis) will try to find a place among the supporting roles.
Without a doubt the best chance of The Walking Deadwho will have two other cards to play: Daryl Dixon will try to secure a nomination in the hotly contested Best Drama category. Norman Reedus hopes to be in the list of Best Actors, just like Lauren Cohan And Jeffrey Dean Morgan (For Dead City), whose names were also submitted to the Academy.
Upon arrival, will there be one or more nominations for The Walking Dead at the 2024 Emmy Awards? This year seems to be the last chance for the immense zombific saga…
