Creature Commandos to Officially Launch New DC Universe in December

James Gunn presents this animated series that will open the new era of DC studios, while waiting for Superman.

Even before Superman Or Batmanthese are strange creatures in the pay of Amanda Waller who will launch the new DC Universe, redesigned by James Gunn And Peter Safran. Creature Commandos will begin on December 5th on the Max platform and will reveal new episodes every week (on Thursdays) until January 16th (7 episodes in total).

The story will follow a “secret team of monsters recruited from prison for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they are your last and worst option.”

A form of Suicide Squad offbeat, which pleases James Gunn : “What I’ve always loved about DC Comics is that there’s always been mainstream comics that worked, and at the same time comics that were different in tone like Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns and All-Star Superman. It’s different from Marvel in that way and that’s something I really want to keep within the new DC Studio. That each project brings a different vision.”” he explains to EW.

If the film Superman (expected in 2025) will be a classic superhero epic, Creature Commandos will be a more adult story, with monstrous characters struggling with their dark past. A series that James Gunn sees as an appetizer before what’s coming at DC: “Superman is the real beginning of it all, it’s a massive epic. Creature Commandos is a way for people to take a little bite and see what it tastes like! There’s a ton of fun references to other DC stuff, a ton of hints of things to come. So I think it’s just an incredibly fun way to start.“.

The cast will bring together Steve Agee in the role of Economos, Maria Bakalova in the role of Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra in the role of Circe, Zoe Chao in the role of Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn in the role of GI Robot & Weasel, David Harbour in the role of Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk in the role of Dr. Phosphorus, Indira Varma in the role of the bride and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
